How We Started
"THE IDEA WAS STARTED BY THE HEAD CHEF AND OWNER, MING YEE, BACK IN 2015."
I grew up in the food industry, in my parent's Chinese-Japanese Restaurant here in Naples. My family was actually the first to bring sushi to Naples in 1997. I, on the other hand, had aspirations to becoming a doctor; I had always loved helping people and sharing knowledge. As I got older and wiser, I recognized how traditional western medicine was not prioritizing general health first and how other modalities of healing and preventive care, such as incorporating organic botanicals and plants into one's diet, could prevent long-term health risks; and thus, provide people with a true sustainable lifestyle. Using my training in cooking and serving, I decided to create a small plant-based menu using only organic and local ingredients, and tested it out at my parent's restaurant as well as the downtown Farmer's Market. I opened Cafe Nutrients on the "Great American Solar Eclipse" the first eclipse seen by the entire mainland of the United States in 99 years! Powerful it was. Divine or coincidence, regardless I would not have done anything differently and I hope to grow, along with my staff and colleagues, with you all in this mission to serve true conscious foods and stay healthy and ready for it all!
